Home Again

After three months away I am back in Utah. It still doesn't feel as though I have been gone for three months, more like two or three weeks. As I talk to people and hear all that has gone on since I have left only then do I realize that I really have been gone for a good chunk of time.

My last few days in the village went by very quickly, but I really enjoyed them. Friday through Sunday I still took advantage of resting and really started to feel better. I was still working and playing with the kids, but still took advantage of afternoons to rest so I would have energy for the next day. By Monday I was feeling much better and was really able to pour myself into the last few days that I was there. I continued to help with the holiday program at the school and had a blast! Each afternoon was spent doing a number of different things, whether finishing training for the girl who was taking over my teaching, random small jobs that needed to be done, or packing getting ready to leave. I also enjoyed the last few afternoons with Rachel and spending as much time with the kids as I could. Although saying good-bye was not easy it didn't really hit me that I was leaving everyone until I was on the bus on my way to Kuching.

The trip home was very long and tiring and by the time I got to Salt Lake I was so happy to not be getting on another plane. The first leg of the journey from Living Waters to Kuching was bumpy as expected but not a bad as when I went in last time. It is much easier going from the village to Kuching rather than going in because you get through the worst of the roads first rather than saving them for last. I had a day in Kuching, which ended up being very nice, before I began the rest of my journey home. On Saturday afternoon I headed from Kuching to Singapore where I stayed the night before starting the long leg of my trip home. After almost 24 hours of traveling and three plane rides later I finally arrived in Salt Lake.

As much as I miss the kids and wish I could still be there with them I am confident I will go back and be able to see them all again. It is also great to be home and be able to catch up with everyone and share all about what has been going on the past three months. I look forward to being able to tell whoever wants to hear all about my time there and share my excitement about all that is going on in Indonesia.

Again, thank you all so much for your continued prayer support as I have been away. I look forward to catching up and seeing you! Enjoy the pictures!
Blessings!
